Collaborative Couples Counseling
During
traditional counseling with only one psychotherapist, one participant might
think the counselor's view is gender-biased, or they might experience a "two against one" atmosphere. To help eliminate these
concerns, my colleague, George Pazdral, MD, JD, and I provide a highly
effective form of collaborative counseling for couples, married
partners and families.
Whether you feel you need "marriage
counseling," "premarital counseling," "couples counseling," "relationship therapy," or "marital
therapy," we work with all types of committed couples. During
collaborative therapy sessions, participants work together with both male and
female psychotherapists, enabling a powerful, effective and comfortable
format for discussing difficult and stressful conflicts that can be
part of all relationships.
Rekindle Affection and Trust
Throughout each session, our goal is to bring positive change. All aspects are open for discussion and focus on:
- Restoring Friendship, Respect, Civility and Mutuality, Trust and Loyalty
- Communication and Affection, Sexual issues, Finances, Children
- Emotional interactions, Extended family, Family conflict
Opening the Doors to Communication
Collaborative
couples counseling works best when there is an evolving level of trust
and wide-open communication, feedback and interaction. Efforts our
clients make to put insight into action also enable and improve success.
Collaborative
couples therapy succeeds for relationships that need only minimal improvement
and redirection, as well as relationships requiring rescue-level
intervention. Our relationship counseling / marriage coaching is highly individualized to the couple-clients. We follow no specific program or formula, but have -- as a result of our experience and training -- a rich selection of interventions to help couples evolve to a richer, more companionable relationship.

Treatment Options
The first few sessions allow us to hear each of your stories and concerns, and understand what particular changes you desire. You are also evaluating us during this period, to determine if we can help you.
We usually advise clients to commit to three months of weekly treatment sessions or six months of twice-monthly counseling sessions. We are sensitive to the expense this entails in time and dollars. However, anything less does not offer realistic possibilities for permanent life changes. Our therapists have very interactive styles and vigorously attempt to move therapy treatment forward to achieve the changes you desire.
We offer weekly or twice-monthly (every two weeks) meetings. We provide MasterCard, Visa and Discover credit card services to enable clients to budget for their psychotherapy treatments. Please call to discuss your situation and learn how best to proceed.
